David R. Howell

Dave was born October 15, 1929, in Jacksonville and lived most of his life in the Atlantic Beach area.

He graduated from Duncan U. Fletcher High School, attended Jacksonville Junior College before joining the United States Army. He attended Officer Candidate School and Engineer School before being assigned to Co B, 485th Engineer Battalion in Regensburg, Germany where he was Detachment Commander until his discharge in 1953.

He attended Law School at the University of Florida graduating in 1958. He practiced Civil and Trial Law in the Jacksonville area until his retirement in 1994.

He spent his retirement years traveling, playing tennis, being physically active and spending time with family and friends

. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Gaye Howell, his daughter, Pamela Megran (Glen), and grandsons Corey and Cullen Megran, of Warner Robins, Georgia.

Services will be held Monday Nov. 13 at 11:30 am at HARDAGE-GIDDENS FUNERAL HOME, 1701 Beach Blvd.

The family will receive friends 30 minutes prior to service time at the funeral home.
