Delores Jean Perdue Thompson, 83, of Neptune Beach, Fla. passed away peacefully at Anthem Lakes Memory Care on January 25, 2025.
She was born September 2, 1941, in Comfort, West Virginia. She was a graduate of Sherman High School. When she came to Jacksonville, Fla. in 1960, she was a long-distance telephone operator with Southern Bell. She also worked many years as a claim auditor with George Washington Life Insurance Company.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Nathaniel Perdue and Delta Hale Perdue, and her sisters, Joy Sue Perdue Hager, Shirley Perdue Hager, JoAnn Perdue Petty, and Carole Kay Perdue. She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Robert "Bob" Thompson, and daughters, Cindy Thompson Anderson and Missy Thompson Clapp (Rob); grandchildren Elizabeth Anderson Slobodian (Joe), Alexis Anderson McLaughlin (Darren), Christopher Clapp (Kelly), Eric Clapp, and Bobby Anderson (Amber); in addition to three great grandchildren Reed, Avery and Haven Anderson, and in the coming months two new great granddaughters, Joanne Melissa Clapp and Calli Ann Anderson. She is also survived by her sister Donna Perdue Sheppard (Malcolm), brother Tom Perdue (Tammy), brother-in-law Gene Thompson (Tom Serdar) and sister-in-law Marsha Thompson Bonham.
Delores adored her family and friends, loved traveling to Disney, cooking and baking, working in her flower garden, walking, attending her grandchildren's activities, and eating chocolate.
The family would like to thank Dr. Safaraz Dhanji of Magnus Primary Care and Caila Martell, Nina Newman and their staff at Anthem Lakes Memory Care for the exceptional care, kindness, and love given to Delores during her dementia battle, as well as Community Hospice.
A visitation will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 29, 2025, at East Pointe Church, 270 Kernan Blvd. North, Jacksonville, FL 32225, with services to immediately follow at 11:30 a.m. with Pastor David Patrick officiating. Interment will be at Beaches Memorial Park in Atlantic Beach.
