D. Cameron Lacy Jr. (Cam), 88, of Jacksonville, Florida died Saturday, February 4th, 2017. A graduate of the class of 1950 from Georgia Tech, Cam ultimately would take his industrial engineering degree and work with the eastern seaboard railroads in sales and product development. Work and a position in the Navy would take him to Virginia Beach and Norfolk where he met Jane Walker Robinson. Their marriage of 34 years took them from Virginia Beach and Norfolk to Richmond, VA, Bryn Mawr, PA and then back to Richmond. Sons Bryan Keith Lacy (dec.) and D. Cameron Lacy III, were both born in Norfolk and followed in the family’s travels. Bryan, a victim Cerebral Palsy, would earn a law degree and practice in Richmond until his untimely death in 2016. Cam (III) is currently an Architect in Wayne, PA with his wife Gay and their two daughters, Caroline & Leigh. Unfortunately, the marriage wouldn’t last the test of time and Cam (Jr) and Jane divorced.
In 1987, Cam met Miriam McCormick Murphy while shopping for a suit of clothes at LaTierra Clothiers, in Jacksonville Beach, where she was a sales associate. This encounter began their second chance in life and they were married on Thanksgiving Day in 1988.
Their home on Le Master Drive in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida, was the setting for many a celebration. Birthdays, holidays, bible studies and 'just because' days, with Cam as host and King of his Castle, were where food, family, laughter and libations created lasting memories that are cherish.
In their marriage of nearly 27 years, Cam relished inheriting Miriam's family. He embraced them as his own and showered each and every with kindness and generosity.
Miriam's children, and theirs, will be ever-blessed by Cam's zest for life, compassion, love and self-less heart.
Cam's family would like to express heartfelt appreciation to Regents Park Nursing facility for their professional, compassionate and loving care of him in his later years. A graveside service will be held on Friday, February 24 at 12:30 at the McCormick Cemetery, in Jacksonville, with Fr. William Kelly as celebrant
