Lt. E.L. “Eddie” Russell, 80, passed away January 23, 2016. Born in Jacksonville Beach, he was a lifelong resident of Atlantic Beach. He retired from the Jacksonville Beach Police Dept. in 1986 after 30 years of dedicated service. Lt. Russell was a member of the FOP, a Mason and member of the Order of the Moose. He was an avid outdoorsman and avid Gator fan.
Preceded in death by his wife Joan Russell, he is survived by his children, Jack Russell (Kim) and Kimberly Russell Reid (Malcom); brothers, Robert Russell (Pat) and Billy Russell (Carolyn); 4 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; and numerous extended family members.
A service to celebrate Lt. Russell’s life will be held 11:00 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 28th in the Chapel of Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home, 1701 Beach Blvd., Jacksonville Beach, FL. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Community Hospice of Northeast Florida.
