Ernest R. Mastroianni

MASTROIANNI, Ernest R., 82, passed away December 11, 2016, surrounded by family in Jacksonville, FL. Ernie was born in Milford, MA, October 3, 1934 to the late Ralph and Elizabeth Mastroianni. He was preceded in death by his brothers Anthony, Johnny, and a sister Connie D’Alesio. He is survived by his brother, Leopoldo (Beverly). Survivors also include his wife of 36 years, Karen (Bernier); sons Frank (Kelli), Anthony, and David Robinson; four grandchildren, Maya, Ernie, Maxwell and Grace; many extended family and dear friends.Ernie had a diverse career in journalism and public service. Reporter, he covered the civil-rights movement, served as TV news anchor and director, taught journalism to Northwestern University graduate students, and

was elected Duval County Property Appraiser, an office he held for 16 years. Ernie loved his family, cooking, reading, watching old movies and gardening.
