Evelio “Bill” Fernandez, Jr., 80, of Jacksonville went to his heavenly home Sunday, December 17, 2017. He was born in Tampa, Florida to Evelio Sr. and Nannette Vitello Fernandez in June of 1937. Mr. Bill, as most called him, was a second generation shoe repairman. He owned several shoe repair shops here in Jacksonville. The last eleven years he was known for the flip flops and sandals he hand made and sold at the Riverside Arts Market.
He is survived by his wife Lynn Marie Fernandez, daughters, Nannette George of Lawrenceville, GA and Jana Carter and her husband Patrick of Neptune Beach, FL ; sons Richard and his wife Michelle of Huntsville, AL, Todd and his wife Heather of Kirbyville, TX and John Eric and his wife, Heather of Kirbyville, TX; 10 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Sister, Rosalie DiMauro; daughter, Darlene Fernandez and an infant daughter, Lavender Marie Fernandez.
A celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, January 6, 2018 from 4:00pm until 6:00pm at the Beaches Chapel by Hardage-Giddens.
