

Frances Margaret Parker Burn, 98, died December 7, 2014, at Vicar’s Landing, Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida. She was born in Birmingham, Alabama on March 28, 1916, to Leroy Monroe Parker and Clara Lee Lloyd Parker.
Frances is survived by three daughters- Mary Lloyd Reynolds White (Robert) of Alexander City, Alabama, Margaret Burn Petrey (John) of Decatur, Georgia, and Sallie Duncan Burn (Peter Elkon) of Atlanta, Georgia; ten grandchildren- Rebecca W. Bates, Lee W. Posey (Kevin), Frances W. Tyler (Hugh), Elizabeth P. Askew (Brian), Daniel H. Petrey, Michael J. Petrey, Molly S. Petrey, Benjamin D.B. Elkon (Kristy), Rachel B. Elkon and Jessica B. Elkon; and eight great-grandchildren- Duncan, Elizabeth (Lizzy), William and Sarah Bates; Josie, Nora, and Duncan Askew; and Amelia Rose Elkon. She was predeceased by her first and second husbands, Cedric Stovall Reynolds and James Duncan Burn, her brother, Joseph Lloyd Parker and by her daughter Teddy Stovall Reynolds.
Frances graduated from Judson College in Marion, Alabama with a degree in English and from Peabody College in Nashville, Tennessee with a degree in library science. She worked as an elementary school teacher and as a university librarian. Frances’s family moved to Florida in 1959 from Manila, Philippine Islands, where they had lived since the late 1940’s. She was a decades-long member of St. Mark’s Episcopal Church in Jacksonville, where she was a member of the Altar Guild. She was a member of the Jacksonville Water Color Society, as well as past president of the Visiting Nurses Association and a docent at the Cummer Museum.
A memorial service is scheduled for 2:00 Saturday, December 13, at Saint Mark’s Episcopal Church, 4129 Oxford Avenue, Jacksonville, FL, 32210.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, to the Employee Scholarship Fund, Vicar’s Landing Members Trust, 1003 York Road, Ponte Vedra Beach, FL, 32082, or to the charity of one’s choice.
