I know I speak for my husband especially,  Marci's grandson, when I say she is so loved and is and will always be greatly missed, especially by those who knew her so much better than I. Rest in Peace, Grandma Marci. We know you're smiling down on us and your great-grandchildren. We think of you often. 

I wrote a long heartfelt post earlier today with tears in my eyes and I guess it never went though so here's my attempt to share my thoughts and emotions again. 

 I'm Marci's grandson Jeremiah's wife, and before I even met her I heard the funniest and warmest stories about her. And meeting her myself just made me adore her that much more. 

 She was a strong, funny woman with a unique personality. She could always catch your eye with her style... never without her thick black eyeliner, lashes, and chunky, sparkling jewelry. I told Jeremiah the day she passed that I have never met anyone like her and I never will. She was one-of-a-kind. 

 She had so much love for her family and accepted my oldest daughter (from a previous relationship) as part of the family without hesitation. Our last visit with her was when our middle child, Haven, was just a baby (I posted a photo on my daughter, Harley's post). I'm so glad we took those photos as we will always cherish them. I am sad she never got to meet and hold our youngest daughter, Hazel. But I know she is looking down on us with her beautiful smile. 

 She fought really hard that last year or so and I believe she did so for her amazing husband and family. But alas, it was her time to let go and rest from all the physical pain and discomforts. I have no doubts she'll continue to watch over everyone, especially her husband, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. And I know she'll remain in our hearts and minds always.

I'm posting my personal favorite photo of her... from the baby shower my in-laws threw for Haven. To me, this sums up Marci's sparkle. 

This is Jennifer Douglas-Miller, sharing a message from my 9 year old daughter, Harley, who wanted to share her feelings about what stood out about Great-Grandma Marci...

"My favorite thing is how "loveful"(she laughed and said she meant to say loving and joyful haha) she was. Whenever we visited she showered everyone with all these gifts that we really didn't need, but she wanted us to have... candy, toys ice cream... She was just fun and caring and I loved seeing her."

Mom was always an independent woman.  She once told me a story that when she was a little girl and wanted to play outside, her mother would latch her to the clothesline to prevent her from wandering off.  When I was about seven years old, I have a vivid memory of being in the back of the family station wagon. We stopped at a red light and I looked out the window only to see my mom pulling up next to us on a motorcycle wearing a mini-skirt and white go-go boots.  She was very artistic and passed those skills onto her children and grandchildren.  After my parents divorced, she went to work and provided for the family as a single mother. Her work ethic was incredible.  At age 13, she'd give me the keys to her Cadillac and have me do the grocery shopping.  One day, she made a decision to re-brand herself and instead of going by her given name (Helen) she just started telling people her name was Marci.   During high school, we had an unspoken agreement. If I wanted to skip school, she'd give a list of chores to accomplish around the house.  In hindsight, I guess this taught me it's okay to bend the rules as long as I am productive.  Mom loved to dress to the nines with her fancy jewelry and designer purses.  When she walked into a room, she was bigger than life and loved the attention.  Her philanthropic efforts included giving away stuffed animals. This gave her great joy. She fought hard the last couple years.  If someone asked me to describe mom with one word, I'd have to respond GLAMOROUS.

It was wonderful to meet her however briefly. Sending love and many blessings to Jack Barbara and the family. Love in Jesus.
