

James E. McNeal age 72 of Jacksonville , Florida passed away on February 3rd 2022 with his loving caring wife Sharon, best friend Sam and cousin Bondie at his bedside under hospice care at the Baptist Beaches Hospital.
His family is deeply saddened by his death.
James was born in Dunn, North Carolina on August 24th 1949 to the late James L. McNeal and Ernestine McNeal.
The family relocated to DC in 1961. James graduated from Eastern High School in 1967. He was an active member the high school elective program JROTC . After graduation he worked as a truck driver in 1967 to 1968. He was then drafted into the United States Army in 1968, and retired as a 1st Sergeant (E8) in 1991. While enlisted, his duties included Military Police (MP), Drill Instructor (DI), Special Duty Assignment at the Pentagon, and Joint Service assignment with the Military District of Washington.
James’s overseas tours included South Korea and Germany. He received numerous medals awards and recognitions for his exemplary service to his country.
James was featured in the 1975 edition of Outstanding Young Men of America, which highlights the best attributes of the nation’s young people.
After retiring from the military, James worked for AOL as a Systems Manager. He moved to Jacksonville Florida and also worked in the Phillipines to expand AOL services in that country. James fully retired in 1995.
James met and married the love of his life Sharon with step daughter Shanice the apple of his eye, and the daughter he always wanted. They were inseparable.
James was a member of the Harley-Davidson Owners Group, the Rifle Association and Kiwanis Club. He had a passion for riding his motorcycle for leisure and charity events.
James memories will be treasured by his surviving loving, caring wife of 20 years Mrs. Sharon Christie - McNeal and his step daughter Shanice Singh , his sisters Lora Branch, Joy Lee (Chris) Rose Williams and a host of other family, friends and those who knew him.
