Born in Asheville, North Carolina, on July 2nd, 1963, Jamie was the son of James Junius (Jim) Reagan and Margaret Jean (Jo) O’Dell Reagan. He had been a resident of the Jacksonville area since 1965, graduating from Terry Parker High School, where he played trumpet in the school band, and later was a graduate of Columbia College with a Bachelor of Arts in Interdisciplinary Studies.
Jamie spent the majority of his career as a Respiratory Therapist at the Mayo Clinic for more than 25 years, eventually becoming the Director of the Respiratory Therapy Department. His patients loved him, trusted him, and frequently requested him, specifically.
He was married to his high school sweetheart and the love of his life, Laura Leah (Lolly) Reagan, and together they enjoyed traveling to Italy, Hawaii, and Jamaica. They also shared a love of cooking and even operated a food truck called Lolly's Trolley for a short time.
Known for his zest for living and his bigger-than-life personality, Jamie loved entertaining and bringing people together. He was a fan of the Florida Gators, Chicago Cubs, and North Carolina Tar Heels. He loved all kinds of music, in particular, Elvis and bluegrass. Jamie had an abundance of people who loved him, and was a loyal and trusted friend to many. He had a great sense of humor, was kind to all he met, and was fond of telling stories about his life, his family, and his experiences.
Jamie was preceded in death by his wife, Lolly and by his parents.
He is survived by his aunt, Nancy Reagan, his cousins, Elizabeth McPhail Hyde (Marcus), Martha Elaine McPhail, Rebecca Reagan Clark (Al), Max Reagan, Kim McCune Hicks, Randy O'Dell, Rodney O'Dell, his brother-in-law, Robert Parks (Leilah), and sister-in-law, Pamela Knopf (Remie), and his best friends, Mark Normington and Darryl Zatyko. He is also survived by his beloved dog, Sadie, who has been adopted by her best friend's family and is being well cared for.
A gathering to celebrate Jamie’s life is scheduled for Saturday, April 13th at 1:00PM at Beaches Chapel by Hardage-Giddens, located at 1701 Beach Blvd, Jacksonville Beach, FL 32250.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the charity of your choice.
Jamie’s final resting place will be in a family cemetery, next to Lolly and his parents, in his father's mountain hometown of Weaverville, NC, where he spent many summers and visited regularly throughout his life.
