

Jim was a Vietnam Veteran who served 26 years in the US Navy and retired as a Senior Chief Petty Officer. He also retired as a teacher for Duval County Public Schools. He enjoyed eating at the Penman Dinner with his family and he belonged to the Seven Bridges Scooter Club.
He was a loving, devoted husband to his late wife Patricia Skillman of forty-seven years. He was pre-deceased by his parents Herman and Jean Skillman, his brother Robert Skillman, his brother Daniel Skillman, and his sister Jean White. He is survived by his sister Beverly Goetze and his sister Jerilynn Zimmers. He was a caring and compassionate father of five children: Yvonne (Ray) Johnson, Tammy (Copeland) Wasson, Teresa (Ross Kinsey) Buck, Anthony (Lisa) Copeland and James Skillman, Jr. Jim was a grandfather to fourteen grandchildren and a great-grandfather to twenty great-grandchildren.
Jim’s graveside service will be at 10:00am on Wednesday, April 26, 2023, at the Jacksonville National Cemetery Lane #3, 4083 Lannie Road, Jacksonville, Florida, with Pastor Spike Hogan officiating.
