Jeffrey Harold Dow, 71 years old, passed away on June 30, 2025 after a hard fight to overcome his recent medical events. Jeff was born in Paterson, New Jersey on July 27, 1953 and was raised and attended grammar school and three years of High School in Pompton Lakes, NJ before moving to Brick Township, NJ with his family. He graduated from Brick Township High School in 1971. After graduation Jeff returned to live in Pompton Lakes and, since High School he was an active member of the locally formed Royal Order of Friendly Raccoons, which was modeled after The Honeymooners, a popular TV show at the time. The sole purpose of the Raccoons was to have the best parties in the Northeast, and they succeeded! During that time, he held various jobs in the construction field.
In 1975 Jeff met his future wife, Linda Reilly at a local tavern called Bullwinkles, and the two have been together ever since. They relocated to northern California in 1979 when Linda was offered a job transfer to Palo Alto. They were married in Monterey, CA on April 19, 1980 and their son Ryan was born on February 27, 1982. They remained in the San Francisco Bay Area until relocating back to New Jersey in 1985.
Linda continued her career in Human Resources, while Jeff worked in electronics sales until he was hired to work at Price Club (which later became Costco) in Wayne, NJ. Jeff progressed into various supervisory and management positions at several New Jersey Costco locations, and became Assistant GM at the Wayne, NJ warehouse. In 2007 Linda was offered a transfer, this time to Lake City, FL. Fortunately, Jeff was able to transfer to the Jacksonville warehouse and the couple, along with Ryan moved to Macclenny, FL. In 2012 Linda changed jobs and they were able to move into their current home in Jacksonville. Linda retired in 2018 and Jeff continued his career at Costco, making many friends and great memories along the way. He liked to say he was working his way down the ladder until he retired from Costco in October 2019.
Since retirement, Jeff and Linda were frequent cruisers, exploring many tropical islands along the way. When he wasn’t cruising, Jeff liked to spend time with his family, son Ryan and daughter-in-law Skyler and especially loved to see his three beautiful grandchildren, Adilynn, Nolan, and Amelia. He loved to work on projects around the house and was quite the self-taught handyman.
Jeff was preceded in death by his beloved mother, Alma Marie (Aungst) Nessman and step-father Edward Nessman, Jr. of Wellsboro, Pennsylvania. He is survived by his wife, Linda Marie (Reilly) Dow, his son Ryan Jeffrey Dow, his daughter-in-law Skyler Nicole (Rosendale) Dow, and his three precious grandchildren, Adilynn Jean Dow, Nolan Jeffrey Dow, and Amelia Lameta Dow. He is also survived by his two sisters, Vicki Dow and Maureen (Nessman) Hughes who both reside in Wellsboro, PA, along with his three nephews, Jason (Vicki), Eric and Joseph (Maureen).
Jeff will always be remembered as a really nice equable guy who was kind and compassionate, but mostly for his quick wit and sense of humor. He will be missed not only by his wife of 45 years and his family, but by the many friends he has made along the way.
