Peggy was born on 7/26/1926 in Jacksonville. She spent her childhood in Jacksonville and graduated from Andrew Jackson High School. She attended Florida State University and graduated from FSU in 1948 where she was a member of Zeta Tau Alpha sorority.
Peggy married Louis C Holloway, Jr at Riverside Presbyterian Church on June 30, 1951.
Peggy began her career as an Elementary school teacher in Duval County for 2 years prior to the birth of her 5 children. She was a devoted mother and homemaker for her 5 children for many years before returning to teaching in 1968. She taught at Atlantic Beach Elementary until her retirement in 1987.
Peggy was an avid Florida Gator fan, despite graduating from Florida State University, and was a Florida football season ticket holder for over 25 years. When the NFL came to Jacksonville, Peggy became a Jaguar fan and followed them as well as her beloved Gators.
Peggy was a daily runner on her treasured beach for many years. She completed numerous local races including Summer and Winter Beach Runs and the Gate River Run.
Peggy enjoyed traveling with family and friends and her suitcase was packed and she was always ready to go.
Peggy was a dedicated member of her bridge club and played with her faithful friends for over 50 years.
Peggy was a member of Community Presbyterian Church for over 60 years where she was an active volunteer. She also volunteered for the American Cancer Society, Meals on Wheels and was a regular blood donor.
Peggy was predeceased by her husband, Louis C Holloway, Jr and her son Louis C Holloway, III (Hank). She is survived by 4 children: Dan Holloway (Trish), Sara Holloway (Danny Bivins), Cynthia Mahagan (John), and Mary Claire Holloway and her 4 grandchildren, Amanda, David, Spencer and Erin as well as nieces, nephews and cousins.
There will be a Memorial service on Saturday, July 10th at 11:00am at Community Presbyterian Church followed by a reception in the Fellowship hall.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Community Presbyterian Church or Community Hospice.
Peggy was loved and adored by all who knew her and her grace, kindness and generous spirit will be missed.
