She was born June 26, 1924 in Montgomery, Alabama.
Maurine worked for Chance Vought during WWII on F4U Corsairs as a Rosie the Riveter. She was a longtime member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church. She spent many summers volunteering at the church with VBS. Many beaches adults remember cheering as a child, “hello Mrs. Ballentine” so she would reveal the magic number. She was an avid baseball fan and loved her Mets. She enjoyed camping, bowling and reading.
But more than anything, she loved spending time with her family.
She is survived by her loving husband of 70 years, Hollis M. Ballentine, her sons Michael Ballentine (Marjorie) and Timothy Ballentine (Jeannie), and daughter Susan Solomon (Allen); grandchildren, Michael Jr., Robert (Tracie), Kenneth, Timothy Jr. (Denise), and Kristen Ballentine, Christine Andrews (Steve), Rebecca and Sara Solomon; great-grandchildren, Sarah, Jacob, John Michael, Melissa, Alison, Sarah, Pollyanna and Max Ballentine, Zachary and Nathan Andrews, and great-great-grandchild, Luke Ballentine.
A Celebration of her life will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 20th in the Chapel of HARDAGE-GIDDENS FUNERAL HOME, 1701 Beach Blvd., Jacksonville Beach. Words of condolence may be shared at www.hardage-giddensbeacheschapel.com.
