Randol "Randy" Jay LaBarbera, 54, went home to his Lord on July 18, 2011 after a brief illness. He was the son of Joseph T. and Betty Christine LaBarbera, born, raised and lived his whole life in Jacksonville, Fl. Randy was born with a rare skin disorder called Ichthyosis, and was a true survivor in his time when little was known for its treatment. Randy loved his family and many friends.
All who knew Randy came to enjoy his wit and humor especially the one line comeback. Even with his skin disorder, Randy was as active in his life as anyone. Randy worked in the family business, All-Brite Sales Company, started by his father and was currently Vice President where he helped his brother, Marty, with running the day to day operations. Randy was a car enthusiast, especially corvettes which he had owned and raced in SCCA sponsored events. He was a member of both the SCCA and Sunshine Chevelle Club. Of his many activities, Randy loved tennis, golf, the Jaguars, auto racing and listening to bands, particularly the bands his friends played in. He also enjoyed the family 'puddy' cats.
He is survived by his wife, Karen, of 16 years, his two brothers and their wives, Martin (Lela) and Gerald (Tonya), many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. Randy also recently became a great uncle.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 21, 2011. All the activities will be at Neptune Baptist Church, 407 3rd Street, Neptune Beach. Viewing will start at 5:30 until 6:30 p.m. The service will begin at 6:30 p.m. A reception will follow. His burial will be at 10 a.m. on Friday, July 22, 2011, at Oaklawn Cemetery, for family and those who would wish to attend.
