Bob is the child of Robert and Flora Liddell born in Jacksonville, Florida 10/16/58. He graduated from Terry Parker High School in 1976. He joined the Navy out of high school and served 4 years of active duty and 2 years in the reserves. After serving in the Navy, he went into construction with his father at Liddell Construction Company. His father was old-fashioned and didn’t make it easy for Bob. He worked hard to earn every achievement. He obtained his contractors, real estate, & brokers, licenses and went on to build hundreds of custom homes in Northeast Florida. He married Pattie in 1984. They made a life together, working, living, enjoying family, friends, neighbors, co-workers and raising three daughters Amy, Bonnie and Rachael.
Bob never wandered far from Jacksonville because his family and friends were here. He loved boating, fishing, hunting and watching football. As always, a hometown man, his favorite football team was the Jacksonville Jaguars. The activity that brought him the most joy was to be surrounded by his family and friends. He was a big man, but he was a teddy bear. He was known by so many names, Big Bob, Bobbie, Bobster the Lobster, Uncle Daddy, Pop, Poppa, Uncle Bob and the list goes on. He had a sense of loyalty that was unwavering. Donnie and Sandra not only could we not of made it through this without you. So, thank you. But we wanted to say we love you. Alex, thank you for being at the hospital and helping with everything you helped with. It is greatly appreciated. His family jokingly called him the neighborhood Mayor because he knew the name of, would wave at and talk to every neighbor. When he wasn’t out in front of the house to wave and talk to the neighbors, they knew there was a problem. They came to check on him and were already praying for him, hoping whatever was wrong wasn’t serious. This family is so grateful to the people of this neighborhood. The family would also like to express deepest gratitude to the Sweetwater Restoration Family. For going above, beyond, and then an extra mile on top of going above and beyond.
Bob is survived by his wife Pattie, Sister Libby, Husband John, daughter Amy, son-in-law Scott, Daughter Bonnie, son-in-law John, grandchildren, Jessica, Cody, Taylor, Payton, Elijah, Raven, Micah, Great-grandchildren Fallyn, and Silas, nieces, nephews, numerous friends and co-workers. He is proceeded in death by his father Robert, mother Flora, Stepmother Rae, Daughter Rachael Daugherty, and lifelong friends David and Sylvia McGavic.
It is a great loss to our family as we were not expecting to lose him. He was taken care of by the incredible ICU nurses and Doctors at St. Vincents Hospital. It is soul shattering to fear you will lose someone, who by the grace of God survives only to pass away just a few weeks later. But, at the same time, we are so grateful to God for the few weeks we did get to have him back to talk to, to hug, to hear him laugh. We got something many people never get. A few more weeks.
Graveside Service will be held on January 27th at 1PM at the Jacksonville National Cemetery 4083 Lannie Road Jacksonville, Fl 32218.
After services a celebration of Bob’s life will be held at daughter Bonnie Eggers home 3628 S. Sanctuary Parkway Jacksonville Beach, 32250
