Rosemary Helen Shires

Rosemary was born and grew up in Dorchester, Massachusetts, but was a long-time

resident of Ponte Vedra Beach, having moved to Florida in 1975.

She was active in the Shriners and American Legion in Jacksonville Beach. She organized

darts and many other fundraisers for charities. She always had a warm smile and huge

heart. Her fiery wit and kindness will always be remembered. Her legacy will live on in the

hearts of so many who knew and loved her.

Rose was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, always dedicated to her

family and friends. She found joy in spending time with her loved ones, creating memories

and supporting them in every way possible.

Rosemary was preceded in death by parents Robert and Lucy McLaughlin, and brothers

James, Robert, Richard, and Paul. She is survived by bothers Michael and Jack, her

husband of 41 years, Elmer Ray Shires, sons William Lee (Lori), Robert Lee (Melinda), and

Brian Lee (Melissa), stepsons Elmer Ray Shires, Jr., Anthony Shires (Sandy), and Eddie Alan

Shires (Nancy), 6 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life will be held privately. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that

donations be made to St Jude Children’s Hospital.
