

SHIRLEY CAROLE (ROBBINS) STRATMANN, 79, a long time resident of the Jacksonville Beaches passed away in her sleep Sunday, October 20, 2013 . She had been suffering from congestive heart failure and other complications of diabetes over the last few months and was staying with family at the time of her death.
Shirley was the only child of the late Mr. Clyde Paul Robbins and Mabel A (Starkey) Robbins and was born in Columbus Ohio in 1934. Her family relocated to St. Louis Missouri where Shirley later met and married the love of her life, Donald J. Stratmann, Sr., on July 4, 1953.
She was an Army wife during his military service during the Korean War where he was stationed in Hawaii. After returning to the states, they moved to Florida in 1960 with their three children, Donny, Brett and Robyn.
In addition to working as a secretary in the Rectory office at St. Paul’s Catholic Church and later at the former Wometco Food Services, Shirley co-owned and operated several businesses at Jacksonville Beach with her late husband including A1A Lock & Key which continues to be operated by her son, Brett today. Shirley continued to work there until her death where she enjoyed greeting customers both in person and on the phone. She also enjoyed working with country radio DJ Robbie Rose in past years where she got the morning show listeners appetites revved up thinking about Shirley’s Country Kitchen breakfast specials that she would describe over the air early each morning… only to learn there was no such breakfast spot to eat at.
Shirley was predeceased by her loving husband, Donald J. Stratmann, Sr, her parents Paul and Mabel Robbins, and paternal grandparents Edgar and Grace Robbins, maternal grandmother Ada Fisher and one uncle, Carl Robbins all of whom had lived in the beaches area at the time of their deaths.
She is survived by her three children, Donald J. Stratmann, Jr. (Dee Dee); Brett A. Stratmann (Stephanie) of Jacksonville Beach and Robyn Lynn Stuckey (Ernie), of Yulee. She also cherished her six grandchildren as well as nine great grandchildren.
The family will greet friends and share fond memories of Shirley at a viewing at Hardage Giddens Funeral Home, 1701 Beach Boulevard Jacksonville Beach between 6:00PM and 8:00PM on Thursday, October 24, 2013 with the recital of the rosary immediately thereafter.
A Christian mass of burial will be celebrated by Father William Kelly at 9:30 AM on Friday, October 25, 2013 at St. Paul’s Catholic Church located at 435 1st Avenue North Jacksonville Beach with internment alongside her late husband at H. Warren Smith Cemetery 1538 2nd Avenue North Jacksonville Beach immediately afterward.
