

Theodore David "Ted" Wallman, 80, of Jacksonville, passed away on Oct. 23, 2015, after a brief battle with cancer. He was born on June 6, 1935, in Brooklyn, New York. Mr. Wallman graduated from Miami Beach High School, where he was a standout baseball player. He went on to serve two years in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
Mr. Wallman received his bachelor's degree from the University of Miami, and later achieved his master's degree from Oklahoma State University and was inducted into OSU's chapter of the Phi Kappa Phi honor society. Mr. Wallman spent 30 years in the field of corrections, including 20 years as a prison warden. He went on to a second career in teaching, first at Oklahoma State University and then serving 16 years as an adjunct professor in criminal justice studies at the University of North Florida in Jacksonville. Mr. Wallman was a deacon at the First Christian Church of the Beaches, and an avid golfer and fisherman. He was an excellent father, grandfather and husband.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Suzanne McCully Wallman; three daughters: Cyndi Barber, Brittany (Bob) Norman, and Jill (Tom) Smeltzer; a son, Wayne (Betty) Suess; seven grandchildren; a sister, Sheila Wallman; brother- and sister-in-law Chip and Phyllis Tousey; sister-in-law Marion McCully; brother-in-law Faunce McCully and numerous other beloved family members. He is predeceased by a daughter, Lisa Wallman Bowers; a brother, Stanley Wallman; and his parents, Emanuel and Ethel Wallman.
Mr. Wallman's Celebration of Life service will be held at 11 a.m. Oct. 31 at First Christian Church of the Beaches on Seagate Avenue in Neptune Beach. He will be dearly missed by friends and family. Condolences may be shared at Hardage-GiddensBeachesChapel.com
