

Virginia Louise Mumford Ball, “Ginny” passed Saturday March 13, 2021. She was born 86 years ago in Jamaica, New York to hotelier Donald Mumford. Ginny spent her childhood as a hotel brat in New York City and St. Louis. She was salutatorian of her high school class with perfect attendance and her sole academic blemish was a B+ in Drivers Education. She attended Michagan State University, where she was introduced to her surviving husband Cornelian David Ives Ball. Ginny and Dave were married over 67 years. Ginny devoted her life to her family and was mother extraordinaire to daughter Kate Ball Clifford and sons, Donald and David Ball. As “Nana” to grandchildren John Clifford, Dani, Donny, Emily and Charlie Ball she was adored.
She raised her family in Syracuse New York, summered on the St. Lawrence River and vacationed for over 70 years in Ponte Vedra. She became a permanent resident of Ponte Vedra in 1989 and moved to Cypress Village in 2015. Ginny made friends everywhere she went.
Ginny’s talents were many including figure skating, skiing, golf, bowling, cooking, sewing and bridge. She was active in both the Belleview Country Club and the Ponte Vedra Ladies Golf Associations. She participated in several bridge groups and was a founding member of the Ponte Vedra Seniors Bridge Group.
Ginny will be remembered as generous of heart, always giving and seldom asking. The family wishes to thank all of those who have expressed their love and condolences. There will be a Celebration of Life at a future date. Arrangements are under the direction of HARDAGE-GIDDENS FUNERAL HOME, 1701 Beach Blvd., Jacksonville Beach, FL.
