

Virginia Jean Carlson (Ginny), aged 86, was carried home to heaven from Jacksonville, Florida on September 4, 2025. She was born to Mike and Angela Liucci on November 13, 1938, at Mount Sanai Hospital in Hartford, Connecticut.
Ginny graduated from high school in Enfield, Connecticut and continued her education by graduating from Bay Path Junior College with an associate in science degree in 1960. While at Bay Path, she served as President of the student government.
Ginny met Dick Carlson on April 2, 1961, and they were married on November 23rd of the same year. Their son Ray was born the following September, and their daughter Debbie was born 22 months later.
Ginny served as secretary to the president of Bay Path College and later worked at the Springfield Science Museum. She was a passionate advocate of the museum.
She was on the Longmeadow Bicentennial Committee and served as PTA President of Converse Street Elementary School. Both Ray and Debbie attended college in Florida. Soon after, Ginny and Dick followed their children out of the New England snow to the Florida sunshine.
In Florida, Ginny worked for Glendale Federal Savings Bank, Barnett Bank and Bank of America. After retiring, she volunteered at Baptist South Medical Center and was a Fawn Ridge HOA board member.
Ginny enjoyed gardening, cooking, painting, and especially spending time with family. Her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were her greatest joy. She was also very proud of her Italian heritage.
She is predeceased by her parents Mike and Angela Liucci, and her husband Richard Carlson. She leaves behind her son and daughter-in-law, Ray and Kelly Carlson, daughter and son-in-law, Debbie and Mark Whittle, grandchildren Christa (Nick) Wellington, Morgan (TJ) Gavlik, Chase Whittle, and great-grandchildren Cambree Gavlik, Reed Gavlik, Jett Gavlik, Grant Wellington and Jay Wellington.
A visitation for Virginia will be held Monday, September 8, 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Beaches Chapel by Hardage-Giddens, 1701 Beach Blvd, Jacksonville Beach, FL 32250; followed by funeral services at 11:00 AM.
Mrs. Carlson will be laid to rest with her husband at 1:00 PM at Jacksonville National Cemetery, 4083 Lannie Road, Jacksonville, FL 32218. LANE # 2.
