

William Franklin Clarke, known by those who love him as Bill, Franklin or Papa, age 94, passed peacefully on May 26, 2022. He spent his last days of life surrounded by family that loved and cared for him deeply.
He was a kind, compassionate, and patient man that brightened the lives of everyone he touched. He made life better for all of those around him.
He was born in the northern neck of Virginia. He treasured his rural Virginian roots; loved and adored his family.
He graduated Jacksonville University receiving his BS and BA from Massey Business School. He was very active in Sawgrass Country Club and University Country Club where he enjoyed golfing and many lasting friendships. He was a private pilot and very successful in his career as an entrepreneur and print/advertising executive. He was an owner and director of Peeples Screen Printing, then a vice president of White Advertising, a division of Avery-Dennison Corp. He then founded Graphic Applications and Image Industries.
He is preceded in death by: his parents, Harold Raymond and Arnetta Catherine Clarke, a daughter, Susan Virginia Clarke Smith, a sister, Margarette Brann (Robert), a brother James and a brother Raymond D Clarke (Sadie). He is survived by: his loving wife Gloria Whitman Clarke whom he adored with everlasting love, a brother, Edward Lee Clark (Doris), stepsons William Thomas Mathis III and Phillip D. Mathis, granddaughter Teresa Graham (Dustin), grandsons Jeff Mathis and Trevor Mathis (Tara). He was also blessed with several great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at noon on Tuesday, May 31, 2022 at Christ Episcopal Church
400 San Juan Dr. Ponte Vedra Beach, FL 32082.
