He was born in Wilmington, NC on April 9, 1950.
After graduating from Cocoa Beach High School in 1968, Gene joined the U.S Army where he served with the 1st Division Infantry, The Big Red One. During his two tours he met and married his wife Kim Tu and started a family. For his actions during combat he received multiple honors, including the Bronze Star.
Following his honorable discharge, he was able to complete his education and began practicing medicine in 1982.
In the early 1990’s, he returned to serving his country as a Captain in the National Guard’s Medical Corp. Returning from Saudi Arabia, he resumed family medicine until retiring in 2020.
From his days as a young boy, he enjoyed surfing, hunting, fishing, driving and working on old cars, listening to and playing music, especially the blues. These interests fueled his collection of old instruments and other antiques.
Above all, he loved, without reservation, his entire family, including his aunts, uncles and many cousins. His profession and love of his Savior Jesus Christ gives us hope and assurance of seeing him again. He will be deeply missed.
