Alton McCray went home to be with the Lord August 4, 2012 after a lengthy illness, surrounded by his loved ones and close friends. Alton was born May 15, 1931 in Telmore, Georgia. He is predeceased by his parents, Will and Cora McCray, a sister, Dorothy Mae Waters and brother-in-law Lawrence Waters. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Mary Alice, daughters Karen Faircloth (Wilson), Darleen Herbertson (Ted), a brother Willis McCray (Catherine), Sister Verdie Lee Eunice (Steve), five grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Alton was owner of Southern Diesel Service in Jacksonville and A&M Fish Camp RV Park in Crescent City. He was a member of the Masons and President of Ribault Lions Club. He loved his church, family, fishing, hunting, farming and teasing those he loved. He will be truly missed but we will see him again. A visitation is scheduled from 6:00-8:00 pm, Monday, August 6, 2012 at Hardage-Giddens Town & Country Funeral Home, 7242 Normandy Blvd., Jacksonville, FL 32205. Funeral services will be 10:00 am, Tuesday, August 7, 2012 at Hardage- Giddens Town & Country Funeral Home. Interment will follow services at Riverside Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to community hospice.
