

Barbara was a lifelong resident of Jacksonville, Florida and graduated from Andrew Jackson High School. She worked for and retired from Blue Cross Blue Shield. She loved her family and especially family time together. She loved music (especially Elvis Presley), dancing and new adventures. Barbara loved her dogs and they were like her children. She always had a dog on her lap. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints her entire life.
Barbara was predeceased by her son, Mickey Hartley; her parents William Elias Tompkins and Alice Mae Chesser; and her sisters, Pauline Branning, Betty Padgett and Etta McCluskey.
She is survived by her husband of 34 years, Michael A. Evans, and two daughters Candy (Raymond) Spearrin and Teresa Williams; and daughter-in-law Cindy Hartley; grandchildren Tommy (Cecile) Hartley, Brandon (Taylor) Tripp, Clay (Crystal) Hartley, Keith Hartley, Mitchell (Karen) Spearrin, Kyle (Shi) Spearrin, Nicole (Nate) Carter, and Colleen (Dylan) Watts, and 19 great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Kay (Richard) Nelson, and many nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, located at 1679 Dunn Ave, Jacksonville, FL 32218, on February 19, 2026, starting at 11:00 am.
The committal service will take place at Hardage-Giddens Riverside Funeral Home & Riverside Memorial Park, located at 7242 Normandy Blvd, Jacksonville, FL 32205, on February 19, 2026, at 1:00 pm.
