Betty Lavoy Yown

Betty L. Yown, 86, passed away peacefully May 14, 2021 after an extended illness’. Betty was born in Sycamore, GA on November 24, 1934 to Arthur P. Holland, Sr. and Edna L. Holland. She graduated from Sycamore High School in 1952 and married high school sweetheart, Bobby E. Yown. Betty retired from the City of Jacksonville Tax Collector’s office in 1992.

She is preceded in death by her parents and husband.

Survivors include one brother, Arthur P. Holland, Jr. (Joy) of Charlotte, NC; children M. Sue Simmons of Crescent City, FL, Donald E. Yown (Beth) of Jacksonville, Gary A. Yown (Gay) of Jacksonville and Mary Ann Jackson (Bubba) of Fleming Island, FL. Grandchildren Joe Yown, Cory Yown, Mandy Sparkman (Kenny), Jennings Jackson and Jillian Jackson and great-grandchildren, Jenna Yown and Barrett Sparkman.

Betty was an avid reader and enjoyed fishing from the dock at the lake. She loved being with family and her weekly Wednesday visits to the hairdresser. She also was a member of Park Lane Baptist Church for over 50 years.

She will be missed by all who know her and experienced her love and friendship.

A graveside service for Betty will be held Friday, 10:30 a.m. May 21, 2021 at Hardage-Giddens, Riverside Memorial Park and Funeral Home, 7242 Normandy Blvd, Jacksonville, FL 32205 with a reception to follow in the funeral home Acosta Room.
