Bonifacio T. Gabertan, Jr., 78, of Jacksonville passed away Sunday, June 21, 2015. Born in Olongapo City, Philippines, he was a son of the late Bonifacio and Constancia Gabertan. After receiving a medical Doctorate Degree from the University of Santo Tomas, Philippines, Dr. Gabertan first came to the United States in 1965 to serve an internship in New Jersey and one year later came to Jacksonville to serve his residency. After completing his training, he had a successful career as a pediatrician, first in private practice and most recently with Family Care Center on Ft. Caroline Road. Bonifacio enjoyed gardening in his spare time and was a member of The River of Life Full Gospel Fellowship church where his wife, Yolanda, is the pastor.
Surviving are his wife of 50 years, Yolanda Gabertan; daughter, Michelle Begley and her husband Christopher of Jacksonville; son, Michael Gabertan of Valencia, CA; and two of his biggest joys, his grandsons, Andrew and Jmatt. In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by one brother and two sisters.
