Sonny peacefully/suddenly went home to be with the Lord on March 7, 2021 at the age of 81.
Burl was preceded in death by his loving wife of 23 years Betty Traylor.

• Mark Steven and wife (Tonya) Traylor of Freeport FL,
• Matthew “Matt” John Traylor Starke FL,
• Robert “Robbie” Luke Traylor of Jacksonville FL.
Burl was also blessed with four beautiful granddaughters’ and a handsome grandson
• Christina Traylor and Jessica Traylor of Starke FL,
• Chelsea Traylor of Keystone FL.
• Chelsea Thomas of Anderson Indiana
• His grandson Aaron Thomas of Bremerton, WA.
Burl is also loved and remembered by many other family members in Blountstown and Bristol, Florida.
Background Information:
After graduating from University of Miami with his Radiology Certification, Sonny was an X-ray tech in both Volusia and Bradford Counties. (Burl was an AVID FSU fan! Do not hold the University of Miami against him.)
He was also an EMS Paramedic from 1979—1994 where he passionately saved lives from Trenton, FL to Bradford & Baker Counties in Florida. (Bradford County Rescue and Baker County Rescue)
He enlisted in the United States Navy June 2, 1958 and was honorably discharged June 1, 1962. Sonny went from boot camp at Great Lakes Michigan to tech school where he became a HM-8404 Field Medicine tech and then on to serve as a hospital corpsman. His duty assignment was with the VMO-6, 3rd Marine Aircraft wing, Air Pac MCB, Pendleton California.
Funeral Service:
A celebration of Burl’s life will be held at Hardage-Giddens Riverside Memorial Park and Funeral Home at 7242 Normandy Blvd. in Jacksonville, Florida on Friday, March 12, 2021.
Visitation with the family will begin at 9 AM.
Service of Remembrance will be held at 10AM officiated by Pastor Matthew Meadows, New Berlin Road Church where Burl was a member. Interment to follow the service at Riverside Memorial Park.
