

Dr. Christine Neuenfeldt, 61, of Jacksonville, FL, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loved ones in her home, on December 7, 2011. Christine was born October 10, 1950 in Springfield, OH to John and Mary Patricia Boyer. She is survived by her husband Alan, of 38 years, her children Erin (Jason) Leonhardt, Beth (Richard) DeArment, Lori (Charles) Freeman, and Michael, and granddaughters Anna, Heidi, Megan, and Ella, her mother Mary Patricia, her siblings, Patrick (Lumina) Boyer, Claire Ride, Greg Boyer, Marian Marshal, Sharon (John) Gallagher, Ellen (Martin) Miskowski, Walter (Virginia) Boyer, and Martha Carrigan (Jeff).
Christine started her educational career with Marquette University earning her Bachelor degree from the University of Mankato (1972), continuing through her Master’s and Specialist degrees at University of Idaho (1990, 1991), and her Ph.D. at the University of Florida (2003). She was employed with Gateway Community Services as the Vice President of Research (1992). She found happiness in helping others achieve their own educational and professional goals. She was a patient teacher, excellent listener, and voracious reader.
Christine settled in Jacksonville in 1992, after following her husband during his 25 years of service in the U.S. Navy. Former residencies include New Jersey, Minnesota, California, Puerto Rico, South Carolina, Idaho, and Rhode Island. She was active in theatrical performances through high school, college, and community theater. Christine was an active member at Holy Spirit Catholic Church through the childhood education programs, choir, vacation bible school, and most recently CCW. She enjoyed visiting her grandchildren in San Diego, CA and Baton Rouge, LA sharing with them her love for arts and crafts. Her home was filled with her piano and guitar music, the vocals to accompany it, and heart-warming smells from her baking. Formerly an accomplished swimmer, she passed on the love of the water to her children and grandchildren. Christine was a well-loved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, known for her selflessness, always ready to comfort and lend a helping hand to those in need.
A wake service will be held December 11th, 2011 at Hardage-Giddens Chapel Hills Funeral Home, 850 St. Johns Bluff Rd. Jacksonville from 6pm-8pm. Funeral services will take place on December 12th, 2011 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church at 11a.m. Interment will follow at Chapel Hills Memory Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Holy Spirit Catholic Church.
