Conni graduated from high school in 1962 and settled in Jacksonville FL in 1978. She retired after 20 years in Civil Service and also retired from All Saints Nursing Home as a Bookkeeper.
Conni’s passion was the VFW Post 7909, where she served in the Auxiliary in many leadership roles including Treasurer and Secretary. As a VFW Advocate, Conni served over 40 years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Tommy Smith. She is survived by her sister, Joyce McQueen of Decatur, IL, her son Robb Vestel [his children Dalton, Shelbi, Tessa, Rose, and Shelley and his 4 grandchildren] and her son Shawn Vestel [his wife Hollie and son Ryan], both of Jacksonville, FL.
Family will receive friends at her visitation at 9:00 am on Saturday, April 23, 2022 at Hardage- Giddens Riverside Memorial Funeral Home, 7242 Normandy Blvd, Jacksonville FL. A funeral service will follow the Visitation at 10:00 am, with burial at 11:00 am at Hardage- Giddens Riverside Memorial Park.
