Dennis H. Fernandez, 56, of Jacksonville, passed away on Thursday October 4, 2012. Dennis moved with his wife to Jacksonville, from Long Island, New York 31 years ago. He was employed as a Physician’s Assistant with Baptist Medical Center & was a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church. Mr. Fernandez was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. Dennis loved to play softball, cycling, watching the Yankees & spending time with his family. He encouraged his family not to look back, always move forward, to look on the lighter side of things. He was a very giving man & loved to joke around & have a good time. Dennis worked hard & played hard, and wanted the best for everyone, especially his family. Surviving him are his wife of 32 years, Janet, Son Justin (Jessica), Daughters Ashley,(Trey) and his youngest Lianna (Shelton), grandson Mason, Father Joseph “Pop”, Siblings Joe, Elyse, Michael, Ronnie, Andy, Lauren, Carol, Jimmy and Marie. A memorial service will be held at Holy Spirit Catholic Church on Tuesday October 9, 2012 at 11 AM. MSGR. Keith Brennan will be officiating. The family request that donations be made to The American Lung Association in his memory.
