Donald Leroy Crawford, Sr., age 82, passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 1, 2018 in Jacksonville, Florida. Donald was born on April 24, 1935 in Jacksonville, Florida to the late Willie Charles and Edna Evans Crawford. He proudly served and retired from the United States Air Force with over 20 years of dedicated service, and served during the Vietnam War. Donald later worked for and retired from the civil service. Donald was a loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend; he will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved him.
Donald is preceded in death by his parents Willie Charles and Edna Evans Crawford, and one daughter Mildred Prevost. He is survived by his loving children Arnold Crawford, Karen Nichols (Rudy), Donald Crawford (Judith), Janice Archie (Charles), Yolanda Myles (Donnie), Rhonda Wright (John), Michael Crawford (Anessa) (and their mother Arna Crawford), Katina Collins, and Melanie Crawford. He is also survived by many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, his siblings Clarence Evans, Ronald Evans, Jacqueline Thompson, and Willie Charles Crawford; and many extended family members and friends.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 7, 2018 at 3:30 p.m. at Hardage-Giddens Riverside Memorial Park and Funeral Home. A visitation and receiving of friends will be held on Friday, April 6, 2018 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Committal services will be held on Monday, April 9, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at the Jacksonville National Cemetery. Those attending the committal services are kindly asked to meet at the funeral home on Monday morning by 9:30 a.m. for the 10:00 a.m. procession to the national cemetery.
