Edgardo J. Obenza, 81, passed away on June 9, 2013. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend. Born on the island of Camotes in the Philippines, he joined the US Navy and served for 21 years, 2 of those years in Viet Nam. Upon retirement, he moved to Jacksonville, where he worked for the Jacksonville Transportation Authority for 20 years. A brilliant mechanic, he could fix anything. He was a parishioner of Christ the King Catholic Church and a dedicated member of the Alliance of the Hearts of Jesus and Mary.
Edgardo is survived by his beloved wife of 28 years, Concepcion P. Obenza; children, Edmar Obenza (Betty), Riegar Obenza (Michael), Kristina Obenza Damato (Michael); brothers, Juan Obenza (Flaviana), Arsenio Obenza (Fe), and Manuel Obenza; sisters, Justiniana Ceniza (Dulcesimo), Diana Liao (Eduardo), Linda Obenza, Dr Leslie Obenza Barile (Vergilio); grandchildren, Stephania Obenza, Zoe Obenza-Bridges, and Joseph Van Damato; along with many other family members and friends.
He is preceded in death by beloved wife of 23 years, Marietta Y. Obenza; parents Juan and Antonina Obenza; brothers Felipe Obenza, and Ebenezer Obenza; and sister Dr Nelia Obenza.
