Elsie Lindsey Story

Elsie was born January 10, 1939 in Ocilla, GA to the loving parents of Archie M. Lindsey and Ada Bell Allen Lindsey. She was raised in Irwin County, GA with her 10 siblings. She moved to Jacksonville, Florida in 1961 and lived there until 2017 when she moved to Foley, AL to be closer to her son and grandchildren.

Elsie worked for Pic N Save in the early 1970’s and then worked for the Duval County School Board until she retired after 25 years of service. She was a member of Marantha Baptist Church of Jacksonville, FL from 1978 – 2018, when she joined Calvary Baptist Church of Foley, AL. She was an active member until her illness but continued to enjoy Sunday services on Facebook.

Elsie was a beloved sister, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great-great grandmother. She enjoyed reading her Bible and Sunday School lessons. She also enjoyed catching up with friends and family on Facebook.

She is survived by her daughter, Sylvia Franks, son, Leonard Wyman Franks, Jr, daughter, Roxanne Johnson (John), grandchildren: Adrienne(David), Jessica, Paul(Heather), Chason(Melissa), Carah(Jeremy), Nathan, Terry and Taylor, great grandchildren: Kyle(Kayla), Madison(Zach), Lauren(Willie), Brayden, Braxton, Brenton, Bryland, Braelynn, Emma, Colton, Lily, Kaiden, Bransen, and Westin, great-great grandchildren: Kainan & Laiklyn. Sister: MaryLou Skelton and Brother: Troy Lindsey(Kathi). Along with many nieces, nephew and friends. Elsie was preceded in death by her father, mother and 8 siblings, husband: Edward L Story, daughter, Paula Sweat and granddaughter, Crystal Franks.

A visitation will be held for Elsie on Monday, August 4, 2025 from 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM at Hardage Giddens Chapel Hills Funeral Home, 850 St. Johns Bluff Rd. N, Jacksonville, FL 32225 followed by a funeral service starting at 12:00 PM. Committal at Chapel Hills Memory Gardens will follow the funeral. Friends are invited to stay for a reception following the committal.

There will also be a Visitation and Memorial Service at Calvary Baptist Church in Foley, AL on Saturday, August 9th. The visitation will begin at 11:00 AM, followed by the service at 12:00 PM. A reception will follow.
