

Emily “Sue” Kirkland passed away on June 26th after a long life spent loving and serving others. She spent the last seven years in North Carolina fighting hard against Dementia. She will rest in peace back in her beloved Florida.
Mrs. Kirkland is predeceased by her parents, “Red” and Elene Martin, and by husbands “Gabby” Hayes, Johnnie Markham and “Kirk” Kirkland. She is survived by daughter Cindy LaRue (Bruce, NC) and son David Markham (FL), three grandchildren (Amie Salkay, Emily Ferrell, and Cody LaRue, NC), six great grandchildren, one great-great grandchild, her precious only sister, Linda Mullinax (GA), and several nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Kirkland loved the Lord. She was a long-time member of North Jacksonville Church of God. She loved her family fiercely, and enjoyed creating a comfortable home. Sue loved being outside, and always took great pride in her lawn. She loved music, dancing, hats, cooking, reading, make up and shopping. She adored anything sparkly, and was particularly fond of glitter and jewelry. This world will not be as bright with her beautiful light gone.
Services are Tuesday July 8th 2025 at Hardage-Giddens Riverside Memorial Park, 7242 Normandy Blvd, Jacksonville, FL 32205. Visitation at 9:00 a.m., Service at 10:00 a.m., and burial at 11:00 a.m.
