She lived in Jacksonville most her life and was a bus driver for Dudley Perez (bus 168), Marie Brunson (bus 4), Joanne Casaletto catholic school and First Student (bus 923) where she finished her bus driving years. She loved being a bus driver. Evelyn enjoyed spending time with family and teaching her grandchildren and great grandchildren the ways of life as she was their one and only “Mema.” She loved giving her husband (Hilton Levi Coleman Sr.) a hard time about any and everything on a daily basis but it was all with hard love. Evelyn loved to have company over whether it was her own friends or friends of the younger ones. Playing board games, coloring in many coloring books, or just sitting and talking having “you remember when” sessions late at night. She did everything for everyone before she cared for herself. Her home was everyone’s home and she was everyone’s “mema.” Never once did she meet a stranger and enjoyed the long life she lived.
She is survived by her husband, Hilton Levi Coleman Sr.; a daughter, Tammy Mitchell; two sons, Hilton Levi Coleman Jr. (daughter-in law Kathy) and Neal Coleman; three grandchildren, Wesley, Amber (Dalton), and Madison; two great grandchildren Amelia and DJ; and many cousins, nieces and nephews and so many friends.
A Memorial Service will be held at Old Plank Road Baptist Church on Saturday, January 07, 2023 at 3:30pm.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.hgriversidefuneralhome.com for the Coleman family.
