

Florence Chandler Roberts, 95, passed peacefully on August 25, 2015 surrounded by family at the Hadlow Center for Caring. She was born on October 7, 1919 in Havana, Florida. Florence was predeceased by her parents Samuel and Annie Chandler, son Charles William Roberts, III and siblings, George Chandler, Sam Ray Chandler, Robert Chandler and Alice Chandler Wood. She is survived by her daughter Pam Taylor (Russ), two grandchildren Amy Hughes (Jon) and Josh Taylor (Jessie), a sister Margaret Chandler Futch and a sister-in-law Doris Chandler. Florence was a cherished great grandmother to J.R. Hughes, III, Taylor Hughes, Audrie Taylor and Luke Taylor. Her life was blessed by many nieces and nephews.
Florence retired from Southern Bell Telephone Company after 37 years of devoted service. Her position was director of the Employee Assistance Program.
Florence’s life was highlighted by her love of God, family and church. As a member of the Arlington United Methodist Church for 63 years, Florence held numerous leadership positions and was a wonderful example and mentor to many. She was a member of the United Methodist Women and taught the Friendship Adult Sunday School Class.
Organization memberships included Pilot Club, Toastmistress and Telephone Pioneers.
In lieu of flowers memorials can be made in Florence’s memory to the Arlington United Methodist Church
