Florinda Felix Gaon

Florinda “Flo” Gaon, 39, of Jacksonville, Florida went to be with our Lord on Thursday, December 10, 2015 after a valiant battle with colon cancer. Florinda was born to Florante and Bernardita Gaon in Olongapo City, Philippines on May 30, 1976.

With Florinda’s late father being in the military, she spent most of her childhood years overseas in Italy where she built lasting friendships and extended her family with people from around the globe. It always gave her great joy to stay in touch and get together with old friends, but her son and family were her world. She loved them and took pride in raising her son, Indi, on her own. Florinda cherished every moment with her family and did her best to make every memory extra special with her thoughtfulness and extraordinary touch. She enjoyed doing things with the special people in her life and appreciated the simple things whether it be watching a movie, girls’ night out or traveling.

Florinda was a one of a kind, amazing and beautiful soul. She was well respected and adored by family, friends and colleagues. Her positive, cheerful and fun spirit made her such a blessing to be around. Her down to earth personality and infectious bright smile made her presence captivating wherever she was and instantly admired and loved by everyone. Florinda was always so thoughtful, caring and embodied selfless love. She always put others first before herself even to the very end.

She is dearly missed by so many loved ones, who celebrate that she is no longer in pain but instead at peace and reunited with both her earthly and heavenly father.

Florinda is survived by Bernardita Gaon (mother), Indravar Patel (son), Bernadette and Cliff Overstreet (sister and brother-in-law), Olivia and Tatiana Overstreet (nieces) along with family and friends. Florinda is preceded in death by Florante Gaon (father).

The visitation and funeral services will be held at Hardage-Giddens Chapel Hills Funeral Home, 850 St. Johns Bluff Road North, Jacksonville, FL 32225. The visitation is on Monday, December 14, 2015 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm. The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, December 15, 2015 at 9:00 am. and will be officiated by Father Rafael Lavilla. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Florinda’s life.
