BEAN, George Wesley, 85, of Jacksonville, Florida passed peacefully Thursday, June 2, 2022, at 5:30 am. He was born the youngest of six children on May 26, 1937, in Trenton, Florida to Ben and Donnie Bean and had lived in Jacksonville most of his adult life. Mr. Bean was a U. S. Navy veteran.
George loved to go fishing, tell a good joke to anyone who would listen, never met a stranger, was an avid supporter of our armed forces and the American Flag, loved to write (he wrote 18) and sing gospel songs, and second only to God, loved his family above all.
Those left to cherish his memory are the love of his life, his wife of nearly 39 years, Anita “Mother Murphy” Bean of Jacksonville; daughter, Stephanie Bean Reeder (William), Sulphur, Louisiana; daughters Brenda Hollis, and Naomi Woodward (Brian, Sr.), and son David Perez, all of Jacksonville; 5 grandchildren, Amanda Westlake (James) and Christopher Cox (Brandi), both of Sulphur, Louisiana, Brian Woodward, Jr. (Amber) and Thomas (T.J.) Woodward (Brittany), both of Jacksonville, and Ashley Madrid (Raymond) of Yokosuka, Japan; and 6 great-grandchildren, Harper Cox, Emma, Ava, and Daniel Westlake, all of Sulphur, Louisiana, and Logan and Maddison Woodward of Jacksonville, and a host of nieces, nephews, and other unofficially “adopted children,” and friends, all of whom will miss him dearly.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, June 8, 2022, at Hardage-Giddens Riverside Funeral Home at 7242 Normandy Blvd., Jacksonville. The viewing will begin at 9:00 am and the eulogy will be at 10:00 am at the funeral home. He will be laid to rest at Riverside Memorial Park at 11:00 am. A gathering of family and friends will follow at New Beginnings Ministries, 6850 Robinson Rd. Jacksonville.
Pall bearers will be William Reeder, David Perez, Brian Woodward, Sr., Brian Woodward, Jr., Thomas Woodward, and Charles Buchanan.
The family wishes to express our sincere gratitude to the caring staff of Haven – Custead Hospice Care Center of Orange Park for their love and compassion.
