It is with a broken heart that we share the passing of our Mother, Gloria Tomaino. She was born in Long Branch New Jersey on 01/29/1933 and passed away at home in Jacksonville, FL on 01/02/25 surrounded by her family.
As a young girl, Gloria and her sister Lucy, had to take care of their mother who was stricken with Parkinson's Disease. She went to work at the young age of 16 to help out the family. When she had the opportunity, she would go to the Redbank Skating Rink with her cousin. This is where she met the love of her life, Raymond and they quickly fell in love. Raymond was in the Air Force and stationed in Texas. He came back to Eatontown during Christmas leave and they married on December 30th 1951. Gloria then moved to Texas with him to start their 70-year marriage. Once Raymond left the AirForce, he returned to Eatontown New Jersey where they raised their 3 children. After Raymond retired, they moved to Jacksonville, FL to be closer to family.
Gloria enjoyed cooking her favorite Italian dishes for her family and friends. No doubt that once anyone tasted her food, they asked her to teach them how to make it. She was flattered and honored to teach them. She always had plenty of leftovers from her cooking and was happy to share them with the neighbors over the years.
