Hazel Louise Sellers

She was born in Jacksonville, FL, July 11th, 1936, daughter of the late Harley and Beatrice Higginbotham. She was preceded in death by her siblings Joyce (Russell) Spell, Judy (Marcus) Padgett, Henry Bennett, Sonny (Shirley) Higginbotham, Johnny (Noma) Higginbotham, and Edward Higginbotham.

Hazel graduated from Baldwin High School in 1954. She gave her life to Christ at a young age and spent her days living for him. She married the love of her life " Buddy Sellers" in 1962. They were happily married for 21 years until 1983 when Buddy passed suddenly. She never remarried after that. Both of them loved traveling, camping and working at the children's home in Bristol TN and in Mexico. Buddy was the most loving and caring husband and dad. She enjoyed listening to Gospel hymns and sharing her gift as an alto singer at church and with her family. She participated in quartets and sang in her church choir. Hazel loved her family and friends. Her favorite moments were spent holding babies, attending family gatherings, and singing on the patio in her rocking chair. She was the best mom, grandma, and great grandma that anyone could ever have. She will be greatly missed.

Hazel is survived by her children: Cindy McLendon, Juli (Stuart) Quarterman, and Daniel Sellers; Her 9 grandchildren: Travis (Mindy) McLendon, David (Alina) McLendon, Joshua Moncrief, Shelbi Moncrief, John Quarterman, Brandon Coffin, Blake Sellers, Bryce Sellers, and Bradley Sellers; and her 7 great grandchildren: Morgan, Payton, Mia, Abby, Nova, Axl, and Lila.

A viewing will be held March 11th from 5-7 p.m. at Hardage-Giddens Riverside Memorial Park & Funeral Home, 7242 Memorial Blvd. Jacksonville, Florida 32205. A Celebration of Life is scheduled for Saturday March 12th at 2:00 p.m. at Journey Church, 6225 Lake Gray Blvd. Jacksonville, Florida 32244. A graveside service will immediately follow the funeral at Sellers Cemetery on Halsema Road.
