

Heribeto P. Sanchez, 93, of Jacksonville, Florida, passed away peacefully on August 13, 2025. Born on June 6, 1932, in Havana, Cuba, Heriberto spent his early years in Havana before later residing in New York, NY, and ultimately making Jacksonville his home.
On July 4, 1962, he married the love of his life, Margarita Sanchez, and together they built a loving family. Heriberto was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He retired from Simmons USA in 1997 and was an active parishioner at St. Matthews Catholic Church in Jacksonville, FL.
Heriberto’s favorite pastimes included walking, listening to music, and watching sports on television. Known for this outgoing nature, he often enjoyed spirited debates and engaging conversations. His lively personality left a lasting impression on everyone he met.
He is survived by his wife, Margarita Sanchez; his children, Magaly Sanchez Basore and Heriberto “Tito” Sanchez, Jr.; grandchildren, Nicholas, Walter, and Kenneth Basore, Lily and Dominick Sanchez; and his sisters, Nereida Beriguistain and Lidia Gonzalez. He was preceded in death by his parents, Manuel and Juanita Sanchez; siblings, Leonardo Sanchez, Adelaida Asencio, Gilberto Sanchez, and Juan Sanchez; and nephew, Alex Eliseo Asencio.
A Memorial Service will be held at Hardage-Giddens Riverside Memorial Park and Funeral Home, 7242 Normandy Blvd., Jacksonville, FL 32205 on Tuesday, August 19, 2025, at 11:00 am. Following the service family and friends are invited to a reception at St. Matthews Catholic Church Social Hall, 1773 Blanding Blvd., Jacksonville, FL 32210.
Heriberto will be remembered for his warm heart, his love of family, and his zest for life. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
