James M. Broughton, age 94, passed away peacefully 12/31/15. He was preceded in death by his wife Anne Theresa and his daughter Patricia Ann. He leaves a loving son James Broughton (wife Penny) three grandchildren Brian, Laura & Deidra and five great grandchildren.
James was born in Hull England, and at the very young age of 14 he joined the British Navy where he was a gunner on the Repulse during World War 2 & was instrumental in saving some of the other crews lives after their ship was sunk. After coming to America with his wife & son they opened a deli & then later he managed a dairy in Wilmington Delaware for many years before moving to Jacksonville. James was very active at Baptist Towers here in Jacksonville for the last 20 plus years, where he made many friends over the years. While there he worked the front desk & also did meals on wheels for a few years to help others. He had many friends and was affectionately known as the Golden Boy to the residents of the Towers.
