Jim graduated from Wolfson High School in 1973. He worked for Independent Life Insurance in Jacksonville for 21 years before becoming a stay at home father in 1996. Jim enjoyed traveling and visiting the mountains with his family.
Jim is survived by his loving wife of 25 years, Nancy B. Melvin, his daughters Mackenzie Melvin and Allison Melvin, mother Carolyn Lane, brother Keith Lane, sister Maria Melvin, uncle James Keith and his wife Linda Keith, and aunt Jan Eason. Jim is survived by many nephews and nieces. He was a loving husband, father and friend to all.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, February 25, 2012, at Hardage-Giddens Chapel Hills Funeral Home, 850 N. St. Johns Bluff. Interment will follow in Chapel Hills Memory Gardens.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
