October 23, 1956 – February 17, 2025
Beloved wife, sister, daughter, aunt, and friend, Jane McRae lived life to the fullest and brought laughter and joy to everyone who knew her.
Jane McRae, 68, departed this life peacefully at home on February 17, 2025, in the care of her best friend and love of her life, Glen.
Born in Anniston, AL with twin sister Elaine Ray on October 23, 1956, to Judson and
Carolyn Whorton, Jane graduated from the University of North Florida and taught elementary students, impacting the lives of hundreds of children. Jane loved spending long days on the beach, exploring the USA on the back of Glen’s Harley Davidson motorcycle, and cheering on the FSU Seminoles.
Jane was a woman of unwavering generosity, deep faith, and boundless love for her family and friends. She touched the lives of many with her joyful spirit and zest for life. She always found positivity in the simple moments that made life meaningful, and she was a fun friend! Jane was also a source of strength and direction for the family.
Wife of Glen Wiley McRae (Jacksonville, FL); twin sister of Elaine Ray (Jacksonville, FL); sister of Alan Whorton (Nashville, TN) and Bruce Whorton (Jacksonville, FL); daughter of Carolyn B. Whorton (Jacksonville, FL); preceded in death by her father, Judson S. Whorton. The memories we created shopping, traveling, eating out, laughing, and talking for hours by the pool with Jane will forever be cherished in our minds and hearts.
Family and friends will gather to honor and remember the beautiful person that she was at a celebration of her life on Saturday, February 22, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. at Hardage Giddens Riverside Memorial on Normandy Boulevard in Jacksonville, FL. Her legacy of courage inspires us all. She is deeply missed, but was ready to see her dad again when Jesus tapped her on the shoulder and said, “It is time to come home.”
