

Jenetta was born on June 10, 1930, to Oscar and Esta Walton in West Virginia. She was one of seven children, with four brothers and two sisters. She grew up in the mountains of West Virginia on a farm and attended school in a one-room schoolhouse.
She married Ray Cooke in 1948 and together they had eight children: Donna, Brenda, Ruth, Dianna, Rita, Joyce, Ray Junior “JR”, and James. She later married Jerry Clegg.
Jenetta worked as a waitress for many years and loved her job. At one time, she even owned her own restaurant. Her customers and friends affectionately called her Jean. She was a loving, caring mother and her family was her greatest joy. Jenetta was known as a caring woman that would do anything she could to help anyone in need.
Jenetta was preceded in death by her mother, father, all siblings, and in-laws. She was the last survivor of her generation. She was also preceded in death by her two husbands Ray and Jerry, four of her children Rita, Joyce, Donna, and JR, three grandchildren, and one great grandchild.
She is survived by 4 children Brenda, Ruth, Dianna, and James, fifteen grandchildren, thirty-seven great grandchildren, and five great-great grandchildren.
Jenetta will be greatly missed by her family and all who knew her. She was a beautiful lady who had a heart of gold.
Visitation will be held at Hardage-Giddens, Riverside Memorial Park & Funeral Home, 7242 Normandy Blvd, Jacksonville, FL 32205, US, on March 30, 2026, at 11:00 am.
Followed by A Celebration of Life will take place at 12:00 pm.
A Committal Service will be held at Riverside Memorial Park, 7242 Normandy Blvd, Jacksonville, FL 32205, on March 30, 2026, at 1:00 pm.
