Jill Louise Horwath

Jill Devore Horwath, passed away 12:09 PM on Saturday, June 21, 2025 at the Mayo Hospital. She was born August 12, 1957 in Ashland, Ohio and became a resident of Jacksonville, at the age of three when her parents relocated in 1960. She was the youngest of four children of the late Bob and Ginny Devore.

Jill was employed as a receptionist and model for the Barbizon School of Modeling upon graduation from high school. When she decided modeling was no longer for her, she began working at Prudential Insurance Company where she attained the position of Underwriter for their Life and Healthcare businesses. Years later, when Prudential sold their healthcare business to Aetna, she worked for Aetna until the time of her retirement.

Jill loved animals of all kinds and had two dogs (Gizzy and Lexus), three birds Goldie, (a cockatiel), Dillon (a blue Macaw), one cat (Simba) and a stray cat that she fed every day (Fluffy). She enjoyed shopping at antique and thrift stores and at yard and garage sales. Jill was always looking for a challenge of finding the right item at a bargain discount even if it meant haggling with the seller. She also loved cooking, gardening and time spent with Paul, her loving husband of 42 years, and being with her family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Bob and Ginny Devore and a brother-in-law, Gary Horwath. Survivors include her husband, Paul Horwath Sr; step-son Paul Horwath, Jr and his wife, Marie; two sisters, Carol Cox (Rob), Pam Edwards (Conrad) and a brother, Steve Devore (Candy); sister-in-law, Rita McCaskill (Bud); two grandchildren April and Harley Horwath as well as a niece and several nephews.

A visitation for Jill will be held Saturday, July 12, 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Hardage-Giddens Chapel Hills Funeral Home, 850 St Johns Bluff Road North, Jacksonville, FL 32225, followed by a celebration of life from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM.
