

Josie Lee (Horton) Boren, 84, of Jacksonville, FL passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on November 30, 2021 after an extended illness.
She was born November 12, 1937 in Montgomery, Alabama, the daughter of the late Luke and Ethel Horton. On April 23, 1953, she married the love of her life Arvil Ed Boren. Josie enjoyed watching old westerns shows, as long as you didn’t touch the remote!! She loved working at Carter’s Fruit Market owned by her sister in law and brother in law, George and Virginia Carter. Josie later went to work at Panama Drugs as a cashier, but she devoted her life to her husband, children and family. She will be greatly missed.
Josie is preceded in passing by her beloved husband Arvil Ed Boren; her three brothers, Mark, Jimmy and Johnny Horton.
She is survived by her six children: Beverly Lucas (Kyle) of Jacksonville, FL, Patricia Tomlinson (Jeffery) of Morgarton, NC, Sherry Watson (Bob) of Jacksonville, FL, Ginny Arnette (Deryl) of Jacksonville, FL, Michael Boren (Paula) of Keystone, FL, Peggy Ryan (Michael) of Marion, NC; brother Butch Horton (Al) of Jacksonville, FL. She was blessed with 14 grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. Her family was the joy of her life.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to all the staff at Community Hospice and Rivercity nursing and rehab for all the care and love they showed for her and the family.
A funeral service for Josie will be held Monday, December 6, 2021 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at Hardage-Giddens, Riverside Memorial Park & Funeral Home, 7242 Normandy Blvd, Jacksonville, FL 32205, followed by a graveside service from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM.
