Born on June 13, 1937, in Middlesboro, Kentucky, Judy was the daughter of the late James Dewey Shumate and Mary Prudence “June” Treadway. She was preceded in death by her husband, John D. Goble; her son, Kevin; her daughter, Paula; and her sister, Billie Jean Shumate Boone (Arthur) of Somerset, Kentucky.
Judy is survived by her niece, Mary Jean Boone (Donna Hull) of Powell, Ohio, and her nephew, James W. Boone (Lesa) of Anchorage, Kentucky.
Judy’s greatest joy in life was singing in the choir at Avondale Baptist Church in Jacksonville, Florida, where her voice and spirit brought comfort and joy to many.
A private family celebration of life will be held at a later date.
The family wishes to extend heartfelt thanks to Judy’s dear friend, Sherri Decker-Richard, for her unwavering love, warmth, and companionship over the past several years. Deep appreciation is also extended to the staff at Brookdale Assisted Living in Orange Park for their care and kindness during Judy’s final years.
Special thanks to Mary Mednick, RN, of VITAS Hospice Care, whose gentle presence and compassionate support brought great comfort, dignity, and joy to Judy in her final days.
