She married Darrell Pearce August 30, 1969 and had 38 wonderful years together. They loved to camp, travel, watch car racing and spend time with their families. Kay started working for State Farm Insurance in 1963 at age 17 and continued through her retirement 43 years later. She was a secretary for most of her career, at one point she was the executive secretary for the state of Florida. Her work family was a large part of her life and she cared for those she worked with dearly.
She loved to read, volunteer at her church Macedonia Baptist Church, watch football, especially FSU and the Jaguars, travel and attend her grandchildren’s activities. However, her main passion was her family, who she loved profoundly and was always there for.
